If you’re a small business on Twitter, reaching out to users who haven’t heard of you yet just got a little easier.
Twitter announced a partnership with American Express to bring a new advertising program to a select group of small businesses. The program allows your business to create promoted tweets and promoted accounts.
American Express merchants and cardholders are being notified of the new advertising opportunity and are being granted early access to this advertising solution. The first 10,000 businesses to sign up will receive a $100 credit in free Twitter advertising.
Starting on Tuesday, American Express will inform the eligible businesses who are granted access to the advertising platform. Throughout the upcoming weeks, the number of businesses allowed to take advantage of this will gradually increase.
This partnership allows for your small business to be highlighted in the Who to Follow section and have Promoted Tweets in your customers’ Twitter timelines. If users are following similar brands, Promoted Accounts will be suggested to these users. This is beneficial to gain new followers.
Don’t worry, Twitter won’t promote all of your Tweets, just those that are most important so that users will take interest. This is great for finding local customers. You can also select a certain geographical location where you want to be promoted and how much you want to spend a day on Promoted Tweets. If you use this platform, you will only pay when users follow your account or engage with Promoted Tweets.
As of late, Twitter has been upping their advertising methods by announcing earlier in the month that Promoted Tweets will branch out to mobile. Tweets will be available both on the web and on mobile.
Businesses are able to submit their contact information and be notified when the program will be available to more businesses.
