Amazon keyword research may seem tedious, but it is a critical component when it comes to ensuring success on the platform.

If you’ve seen an Amazon product listing with a very long, keyword-littered product title, you might wonder who would read and be persuaded to click on the listing. While this thought is legitimate, most of us are far more likely to use keyword descriptors when we are searching on Amazon.
For example, we might search for “men’s black long sleeve sweater” rather than just searching “sweater.” So, while some of these keywords may seem a bit clunky to have in a product title, they are designed to work with Amazon’s search algorithms.

1. Google Keyword Planner
With it, you can see search volumes for specific product keywords, track search volume over time, and even compare keyword search trends. While traditionally this tool has been used by SEO and Google Ads experts, you don’t need to be an expert to use it.
Its keyword suggestions may not be the most effective for Amazon because it’s designed for the Google ecosystem first and foremost. Nonetheless, it’s useful for guiding your keyword selection or integration.
Plus, Google Keyword Planner is free. Although you must create a Google Ads account in order to use it, you are not required to run Google Ads to get your hands on it. This tool can be a little tricky to get the hang of, but after you put in a couple of hours, you will be researching like a pro.
2. Helium 10
This tool assists you in gathering vital information about your chosen keywords. You can, for example, keep track of keyword rankings and percentage changes on Amazon, predict monthly searches and trends, and compare your SEO approach to that of your competitors.
Helium 10 also has a learning curve, but its design and features are fairly straightforward—as long as you know what you are looking for. We will say that keyword research is just scratching the surface of what you can do with this software, but if you are serious about keeping Amazon in your bag of ecommerce tricks—Helium 10 is a must-have.
3. AMZ.One
You can test out AMZ.One for 14 days before committing to a premium subscription by signing up for a free trial. Basic ($15 per month), Standard ($30 per month), Advanced ($67 per month), and Professional ($135 per month) are the four premium options.
All of the paid subscriptions include limitless keyword research. With any plan, you can also do a reverse Amazon Standard Identifying Number (ASIN) search to see what search terms your competitors are ranking for.
4. DataHawk
Because let’s face it, the greater the search volume there is on a keyword, the more challenging it can be to pull market share (or search share) away from a competitor. DataHawk also has the ability to save historical data, allowing you to view and analyze data from weeks and months ago.
DataHawk allows you to link numerous Amazon Ads accounts. You can see precise information in your ads, such as impressions, clicks, conversion rate, total sales, and more, all from an accessible dashboard. This quick and easy access to your critical data can aid in increasing sales and lowering ad spending.
5. Keyword Tool
The program generates appropriate keywords for your Amazon listings using an autocomplete feature. It will provide alternate search terms as you type keywords into its search bar. This is akin to typing a Google search and seeing a list of search options before you have finished typing.
In your keyword research, you can get 750+ long-tail phrases using its free edition.
By opting into one of its paid options, you can obtain twice as many keywords. You can also receive more features and data with a premium subscription. Keyword Tool Pro, for example, will show you the number of searches for Amazon keywords.

That being said, the primary aim is to uncover what keywords are driving traffic to Amazon product listings from organic searches. However, as you have probably realized by now, this keyword research can apply to improving both your organic and paid Amazon efforts.
There is a catch with Ahrefs though. There are only paid options available, which can be paid monthly or annually. It isn’t the most affordable option, but it is one of the most comprehensive. So, if you are on the fence, try its 7-day trial and you’ll get full access to all its features.
7. Sellics
You can use this Amazon keyword tool to see which product listings need to be improved and get suggestions for product titles, descriptions, and bullet points.
The program tracks the rankings of your chosen keywords, allowing you to assess the effectiveness of your efforts. You may use a reverse ASIN search to compare your product listings to those of top-ranking competitors to see how you can increase your conversion rates.
This may be a bit much if you are an Amazon novice, but when the time is right, this is a great option to consider.
8. SellerApp
Monthly search volumes, relevance scores, impression rates, and CPC costs are all included with each keyword in its database.
Amazon reverse ASIN searches are also available, displaying the keywords for which a competitor’s product is currently ranking. According to SellerApp’s data, the program is used by over 15,000 businesses, including the likes of Philips and Quantum Networks.
9. MerchantWords
The program combs through Amazon’s marketplaces and presents you with the keyword data you need in a fairly simple, easy-to-understand format.
MerchantWords also allows you to pick and choose which of its 11 Amazon markets you prefer to use. They also have a bulk ASIN Plus search letting you search up to 50 ASINs at one time—if that is something you are looking for.
MerchantWords has a number of paid subscription plans that start at $35 per month.
If you only want to target one Amazon marketplace, its silver plan is probably your best bet. The monthly cost of the Gold Plan is $79 per month. It’s perfect for sellers that offer products on multiple Amazon marketplaces in different regions. Its Platinum package, which costs $149 per month, is tailored to international brands. So, choose wisely.
10. Keyword Tool Dominator
You can use it to figure out what terms people are searching for when they’re looking for your products. Up-to-date search queries can be found across Amazon divisions and marketplaces.
There are three keyword research options to choose from: normal, exact, and broad match. You can use the filters to narrow down your search results and specify the minimum and maximum word counts for the search queries you want to find. Remember that more traffic does not always mean better—especially if there is more competition for your preferred search term.
The keyword ideas are updated on a regular basis, based on the popularity of topics and search patterns.
You may use this tool to uncover trending keywords before your competitors do if you are diligent. Keyword Tool Dominator is free to try, but if you want lifetime access, there is a $49.99 price tag attached—and this is just for its “Amazon Keyword Tool.” There doesn’t appear to be any free trial here, which is one of the reasons it comes in at the bottom of this list.
