How to Improve Your Company Google+ Page

The new Google+ revamp has received mixed reviews. Some love it while others are unsettled by the white space the site now has to accommodate different screen sizes. How can you make sure that you’re getting the most out of your Google+ company page? Here are some tips for improving your page.

Profile Picture

Much like your profile pictures on other social media sites, your Google+ photo is the first thing that users notice about your company. However, unlike that of Facebook, your Google+ photo must be square, 200 x 200 pixels and 48 x 48 pixels for the thumbnail. Make your photo is a clear representation of who your company is.

Keywords

Your Google+ page’s “About” section lets you fill in information for the Tagline, Introduction, Contact Info and Website. You should fill the sections out as thoroughly as possible and include keywords that best suit your business, because Google indexes this information.

Promoting Your Page

Once you’ve set up your page, you need to add a +1 button to your company website, blog, etc. It makes it easier for website visitors to connect with you on Google+ with the click of a button.

Photos

Now that Google+ has introduced a new design, photos and videos are spotlighted even more. By posting photos and videos to your page, you are more likely to get user engagement. You’re also able to create photo albums that are easier to explore with the new design.

Now you’re also able to have a larger photo similar to Facebook’s cover photo instead of icons at the top of your page. It should my 940 x 180 pixels. If you prefer the icons, you still have that option. As of now, there aren’t any strict rules for what the photo can include.

The last thing to do once your page is completed is to post valuable content, interact with those in your Circles and promote your page internally to increase engagement.
