The amount of followers you have on your social media accounts determines how many people you will be able to reach through your posts. If you’re just now creating a Pinterest account or want to increase the amount of followers you have, there are a few simple steps you can take to gain more of a following.
Use Your Other Social Networks
If you already have a following on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. then it will be easier to gain more followers by asking those you already have to also follow you on Pinterest. It’s also a good idea to promote your Pinterest account on your blog and website like you would with any of your other social media accounts.
Pinterest Button
You’re most likely aware of how beneficial “Like,” “Tweet” and “+1” buttons are in order for your content to be shared on the web. You should also include a Pinterest button onto your blog posts, pages on your website and other important content. This will make it easier for users to pin your content and gain more followers.
Relevant Boards
Create boards for any blog posts, videos or content that you constantly post about. If you have a way to better organize your content, users can follow the boards that best apply to their lifestyle. Give the boards relevant names to what you’re pinning on them. Make sure that your content is visually appealing so that it gives users a reason to re-pin your pins.
Pin Often
You want to find the balance between posting too much content and not posting enough. Unlike other social media sites, with Pinterest you’re able to post more regularly. Anywhere between 5-25 pins and re-pins a day depending on how many boards you have. Make sure you’re also posting your own content so users have a reason to want to follow you. Commenting on other pins is also important to get your brand out there.
Follow Pinners
Find users that pin things that you will care to look at. By doing a simple search with keywords that you are interested in, you’ll find users that pin content that would appeal to you. Follow those that have a large following and post constanty.
