Every year, National Positions takes a look at all that’s happened surrounding digital marketing, ecommerce, and industry shifts to make our predictions as to where next year will take us.
Now, this year has obviously not been a normal year. This year all of the certainty about what we thought would happen and where we would be heading was shaken to its core—forcing us marketers to reassess what the future would hold.
This doesn’t mean that many of our predictions such as the importance of mobile website load speeds, local customers, and video content were incorrect, but rather, our new predictions needed to focus on what matters right now, not six to eight months from now.
Planning For 2021
Consumer behavior has (by necessity) shifted so quickly that businesses around the world have been forced to focus on factors like availability, convenience, and consumer safety. All this being said, in preparation for our upcoming Marketing Trends for 2021 Guidebook, our CEO, Bernard May, and Director of Marketing, Matt Erickson, sat down to candidly discuss where the world of marketing is heading in 2021…in podcast form.
In the 10th episode of the Digital Breakthroughs Podcast, Matt and Bernard highlight some of the overarching trends that every business needs to focus on and how they can prepare right now.
In an “etch-a-sketch” of a year, Bernard and Matt remain optimistic about the opportunities that 2021 holds. From improving ecommerce visibility to smoothing over the customer experience to optimize conversions, there will be plenty of revenue to be had in the coming year.
One thing is certain for most brands, waiting for “normal” is not an option as we approach 2021.
The coming year(s) is bringing something new and the best path forward is to focus on what opportunities we have before us rather than dwell on “what was.” There will be new and growing customer bases, there will be changes, there will be opportunities and brighter days ahead.
