The season is upon us again!
Pumpkins are being carved, Thanksgiving feasts (and second helpings) will soon be eaten and—before you know it—gifts will be wrapped (and unwrapped). But let’s not focus on falling snowflakes and festive music just yet…
First, we are going to sink our teeth into some of our favorite ways to get creative with social media this Halloween—vampire-style. Let’s revisit some of our favorites and then see if anything new bubbles to the surface of our cauldron of tricks (and treats)!
Go Long with Facebook
Forget the memes and cat photos. (But not before we get to see a pic of your cat in his/her Halloween costume…seriously do it and tag us.) Try long-form posts and videos on Facebook!
Posting longer content is gaining popularity and can help you increase reach and engagement. If someone is on Facebook scrolling through their feed, they don’t necessarily want to leave the Facebook app. So make it easy for them to devour your content and continue their spooktacular Facebook adventure.
Try posting your latest blog directly to Facebook. Don’t be scared—it’s only an experiment. Dun, dun, dun!
Discover More on Instagram
Find influencers in your area—even when they’re disguised as mermaids or superheroes. On Instagram: Click the search icon. Click the “Places” tab. Type in the town or city where your business is located. The top 9 posts you see are from the most influential Instagram accounts in your area right now. Select a post you like. Click on the profile name from the top (above the image).
Now, using the three dots over to the right (does anyone know what that thing’s actually called?), click and send a message directly to that influencer…or all of them!
Invite them to your Halloween gala, compliment their costume choice, or offer them your hair-raising free trial.
Repeat Yourself on Twitter
Don’t be afraid to get repetitive. There are many ways to say the same thing. You know, you can say things in plenty of different ways. (See what we did there?) Posting a link multiple times with a different visual medium or altered text may attract different audiences. Some of us speak meme, some of us speak video. So make sure to speak to all your followers in their visual language.
Don’t forget to engage! Like and retweet your favorite hobgoblins’, vampires’, and mummies’ posts. #Halloween2019
Customize with Snapchat
Create your own Halloween geofilters for your business. You can have your designer create one from scratch or use one from Pinterest’s creepy collection of Snapchat filters. Have fun and show off your company’s creative (or chilling) side.
This isn’t a trick—but it’s definitely a treat you should indulge in today.
Go Live, Get Real!
There’s nothing like seeing your Halloween festivities live in action! Almost every social media app—from Instagram to Facebook to Twitter and beyond—now gives you the option to broadcast your moments to the world. Give your clients, prospects, followers, and fans a behind-the-scenes look at your business and your team.
What better time to do this than when everyone is “dressed to kill” for Halloween?
NEW TRICK! Stories Aren’t Just for Campfires
It’s time to tell spooky Stories to get your audience engaged this Halloween. Stories have exploded as one of the highest consumed types of content in 2019—and attention means opportunity. As you decorate your office, and your team shows off their costumes, make it a habit of documenting the festivities and posting Stories daily.
You can even try a Halloween countdown giving a new tip, trick, or behind-the-scenes look at your brand and its inner workings. Remember—your audience is made up of real, live people (no matter how much they may fool you this Halloween) who want to connect with your brand.
Stories give you a simple yet effective way to show your team’s personality and keep attention on your brand—right up to the night that trick-or-treaters come knocking.
So, which of these tips was your favorite? Or do you have a favorite social media tip for Halloween you want us to know about? Follow us on Instagram and send us a DM. You never know, we might just feature your idea in an upcoming post!
